Interiors with Purpose: The Role of Upholstery in Hotel Design

In hotel design, upholstery is a key technical component that directly impacts comfort and durability. Beyond aesthetics, it plays a structural and operational role, defining how space performs over time.

At Revival, our upholstery expertise combines craftsmanship and engineering to create interiors that meet the high demands of the hospitality sector. Each project is developed with a clear objective: to deliver durable, safe and comfortable solutions that enhance the guest experience and simplify maintenance for hotel operations.

Technical Design and Project Planning

Upholstery projects for hotels begin long before production. During the planning stage, Revival works closely with architects, interior designers and project managers to define materials, volumes and specifications according to each area’s function.

Guest rooms, lobbies, restaurants and spa areas all require different technical considerations. For example, seating in public areas must resist heavy use and be easy to clean, while upholstered wall panels in suites contribute to acoustic insulation and visual warmth.

Our design process includes detailed measurements, material sampling and mock-ups when needed, ensuring every component meets both aesthetic and operational requirements.

Material Selection and Compliance

Every fabric used in hotel projects must balance design and performance. Revival selects textiles and foams based on criteria such as fire resistance, abrasion cycles, cleanability and sustainability.

We work with certified suppliers that comply with European fire safety standards (EN 1021) and IMO FTP Code Part 8, as well as environmental certifications like OEKO-TEX® Standard 100 and Global Recycled Standard (GRS).

For high-traffic areas, we use technical fabrics with advanced coatings that resist stains, UV light and moisture. In luxury zones, we combine natural fibres with engineered backings to achieve both comfort and durability.

This approach ensures that each upholstered element maintains its integrity and appearance through daily use and regular maintenance.

Manufacturing Precision

Production takes place in our Mallorca workshop, where Revival integrates traditional craftsmanship with modern technology. Each piece is cut, sewn and assembled with controlled tension to prevent deformation and ensure dimensional accuracy.

Quality control is applied throughout the process. Foam densities are verified according to usage category, seams are reinforced in high-stress areas, and every finished component is tested for fit and visual alignment before installation.

For large-scale hotel projects, we maintain full documentation of materials, suppliers and test certificates to support quality assurance and compliance requirements.

Installation and Maintenance Support

Revival coordinates closely with construction and fit-out teams during installation to guarantee seamless integration into the overall design. Our on-site technicians ensure that panels, cushions and furniture are properly secured and aligned according to the approved layout.

We manufacture protective covers for exterior furniture to protect against the elements during inclement weather or winter closure periods.

We also provide maintenance guidance for hotel staff, detailing cleaning procedures, recommended products and reupholstery intervals to extend the lifespan of each component. This ongoing support helps hotels maintain consistency and reduce long-term costs.

Delivering Value Through Expertise

Working in hospitality requires precision, coordination and accountability. At Revival, we bring more than 30 years of experience in complex upholstery projects, applying the same technical standards used in marine and contract environments.

From boutique hotels to large resorts, our objective is the same: to provide reliable, high-performance upholstery solutions that elevate both the aesthetic and operational quality of interior spaces.
